How to create your co-founding team.

You don’t have to run a business alone. Doing so can leave you stressed, overwhelmed and leaving you asking why you even started in the first place. Spread the load with others by creating a co-founding team. Listen to this episode of the Startup Streams Serial Entrepreneur Podcast to find out how…

All Startup Streams pre-made businesses for sale are based on the powerful Shopify e-commerce platform.

And Shopify allows you the commanding ability to be able to invite two people to access your store at no additional cost as you get started. As the store owner, you can control each user’s, access to the various areas of your store’s admin for extra peace of mind - you know, to make sure they aren’t messing around with payment settings for example.

Certainly at Startup Streams, we started off having myself as the store owner, with full access to all parts of the store with another team member having access to all order and customer info to be able to fulfil orders, and another team member who is a developer to help make customisations to our store.

You may wish to invite a friend or colleague to help you run your business by covering any weaknesses in your skill set. Maybe you wish to invite someone to aid with marketing and take responsibility for sending targeted traffic to your store? You may wish to invite another staff member to answer customer messages, create new products or analyse your sales data.

What are the positions in a co-founding team?

Typically, a 3 person co-founding team consists of a CEO, someone to help with marketing and another to build the product. But there are other roles you may have never heard of before. Lets find out…

To give you some more inspiration, you can look at the various C-Level positions a company typically holds.

Ok, so you have the CEO position filled already - you are the boss and are in control of all business activities.

So, why not invite a CMO, a chief marketing officer, to help with getting the word out about your business; or a CFO, a Chief Financial Officer, to help with all fiscal aspects of your business such as cash flow forecasts, taxes, payroll and even business development.

Expanding beyond that, you could consider inviting a COO, or Chief Operations Officer, to help you manage orders and the day to day operational basis. You could invite a CTO, or Chief Technology Officer, to help with all aspects of technical development - whereby skills in coding will certainly come in handy.

Later on in your business lifecycle, you could consider finding a CHR, or Chief Human Resources Officer, to take care of all aspects of the hiring, training and developing your workforce. You could find a CLO, or Chief Legal Officer, a CPO, that’s short for Chief Product Officer or even, most obscurely, a Chief Happiness Officer, as Google famously hired to make sure their workforce remains positive and motivated.

It’s may be useful to know that you can invite more people to your Shopify store as you expand, grow up and level up your Shopify plan to allow more access to your store to help you out.
